From 2020 to 2021 alone, the number of fatal accidents increased 10.5%, which was the largest one-year increase in the history of the Fatality Analysis Reporting System. In fact, in just 2021 alone, the National Highway Safety Administration had reported that 42,915 lost their lives that year in fatal accidents on the road.
