Carbon Dioxide Emissions per Capita in Each State

Did you know that Wyoming produces 40% of the coal in the entire country? This large coal mining state also has the highest per-capita CO2 emissions in the U.S. at 104.48 metric tons. This map from also shows the state with the highest carbon emissions overall. With a whopping 706.5 million metric tons, Texas is responsible for the most CO2 being released into the atmosphere in the US. Judging by this infographic, we should all strive to be more like Vermont. Vermont has the lowest carbon emissions overall, with only 5.8 million metric tons. Although it is also the least populated state, Vermont has a comprehensive energy plan that they strive to keep high standards of clean energy.
