More than half of young adults in the United States live with their parents. This became an even larger percentage after the pandemic made the cost of living skyrocket. Many 45 and younger can not afford to live on their own or pay rent in large cities like New York, Miami or LA. Although home prices are on a downturn, it is still very hard for millennials to save a down payment for a house so they are stuck paying rent. This map shows where rental prices are the highest and lowest in the US. There are still many cities where you can get a one bedroom apartment for less than $1000. Laredo, Texas, Shreveport, Louisiana, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma and Wichita, Kansas just to name a few. See which cities had the highest rents on this list some 4 times higher than the lowest ranked cities.
