A new graphic from PixlParade teaches fans how to properly pronounce the most elusive and tricky Pokémon names. The graphic includes information on some of the most confusing Pokémon and their names, revealing that many of the names have cultural references.
For example, Pokémon from the Alola region are inspired by Hawaiian culture and legends. As a result, Pokémon like Janmo-o, Hakamo-o, and Kommo-o incorporate Hawaiian pronunciation in their names, and their designs are based on legendary lizards. You’ll also find Tsareena on the list, which takes its name from “tsar”, the Russian term for monarch. Can you spot any other cultural references on the list? Any names you’ve never pronounced correctly?
