The team at Ooma examined company attitudes toward remote work based on the company’s age.
Companies under two years old led the way with 43.9% remote work adoption rates. However, older, more established businesses over 16 years old had the biggest impact by employing the most remote workers. These legacy companies together employ 76.4% of the remote workforce.
This reflects the economic reality. While newer companies might be the most open to remote work, older companies have the most resources to hire freelancers, contractors, and other remote workers.
Tech-forward industries are the most likely to offer remote work, while manufacturing and healthcare jobs have obvious barriers that prevent working from home.
