Monaco saw 11,609.20 trademark applications filed for every 100,000 residents in 2021 alone, which was the highest rate in the world. During that year, Monaco was one of only three countries with trademark application rates of more than 5,500, along with Liechtenstein (11,412.44 per 100,000 people) and São Tomé and Príncipe (11,376.45 per 100,000 people). The team at Nominus did the research to identify which countries around the world applied for the most trademarks, and their findings were fascinating. While those three countries had the highest rates of trademark applications filed in 2021, it was China that had the most trademark applications overall, with an overall total of 7,066,435.
