10 percent of the population has a fear of public speaking and will go to great lengths to avoid it. In fact, public speaking is listed as the number one fear behind snakes and even death! The medical term for speak anxiety is called “Glossophobia” and three in four people suffer from some form of public speaking fear. However, overcoming the fear can be beneficial to your career. Not only do people who conquer their public speaking fears earn higher incomes, a survey of 1,000 employers found that communication skills top the list of abilities they look for in hiring!
