A study by Ooma utilized 2023 Census Bureau data to determine the age distribution of business owners across metropolitan areas in America.
Utah showed a strong trend toward younger business owners. This may be because it’s an area with high birth rates and an economic boom that can support younger entrepreneurs. We find that destinations and cities that are friendly to retirees, along with those that have higher living costs, attract older entrepreneurs who need more resources to find success in these locations. This map paints an interesting picture of how age and location play a part in shaping the trajectory of business owners.
